About Baptism

“Holy Baptism is full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ’s Body, the Church. The bond which God establishes in Baptism is indissoluble.”

Each Christ Follower joins God’s family through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. Once you are baptized you become a full member of the Church. There are no other hoops to jump through. But then, Baptism is not the end of the journey but the start of a new one. As one famous religious leader said “Baptism is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that takes the rest of your life to complete.” That’s because in Baptism you receive the Holy Spirit, and it is that Spirit of God which changes you and marks you as Christ’s own forever. To receive the Spirit in Baptism opens up doors to live in the Spirit, see the fruit of the Spirit grow in your life, and use the spiritual gifts God gives you.

Baptism is not a membership thing … it’s a spiritual thing that changes everything.

We welcome any and all people into Baptism who are ready to believe in their hearts and confess with their lips that Jesus is their Leader and Forgiver.

As you will see in the brochures attached we also believe children can be baptized. This is a practice of the Church from the very first centuries (and is mentioned in the Bible — for more on this go here). For children who are baptized, we also offer the Sacrament of Confirmation. It’s at Confirmation that children get to profess with their own lips that they believe in Jesus and accept him as their Savior. Please note: Confirmation is not necessary for you to be a full member of the Church. Baptism is “full initiation” and adoption into God’s family.

Please feel free to ask any questions about Baptism … or about taking the next step in your faith at whatever level you are in your spiritual journey right now … We’re here to serve you.
